EKRAN á la carte at the Berlinale Talent Campus

On February 11, 2013 Wajda Studio prepared an early breakfast for the participants of Berlinale Talent Campus, during which young artists from around the world learned about the fundamentals of the international EKRAN program.

During the breakfast, the participants heard from speakers from the Wajda Studio and the Polish Film Institute.

Wojciech Marczewski, Wajda Studio Program Director, presented the Berlinale Talent Campus with the base ideas of Wajda Studio, which are fully realized in programs such as EKRAN - guaranteeing the creative pre-production and development of projects. He also drew attention to the uniqueness of the project - the possibility of shooting two scenes from the script with actors, operator and a team of choice. Agnieszka Marczewska, head of EKRAN, told the "talents" about the details of participating in the program.

Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik, International Cooperation Specialist with the Polish Film Institute, noted the prestige associated with participating in the programs run by Wajda Studio and Wajda School and expressed satisfaction that the Polish Film Institute can support such programs.

EKRAN is a unique hands-on training program for European film professionals, focusing on the creative pre-production process. In addition to preparation for shooting, its main goal is production of two scenes from each participating script. EKRAN helps to find the right tone for the film, develop the skills of storytelling with images, gives an opportunity to experiment with casting and acting trials. The program also helps develop some aspects of the strategy to promote and distribute the film already at the development stage.

EKRAN is organized in cooperation with European partners: Focal Foundation in Switzerland, the Austrian Film Institute, the Croatian Audiovisual Institute, Nordmedia (Germany), AGORA Foundation and the Polish Film Institute and funded by the MEDIA Training program of the European Union .

Berlinale Talent Campus is one of the most prestigious events for young film creatives - held during one of the most important international film festivals, the Berlinale.

Every year, the Talent Campus hosts over 300 young filmmakers from around the world. A daily breakfast for the participants is a fixed feature of the program, providing an excellent opportunity for industry networking in an informal atmosphere. Every day, the breakfast is hosted by a different institution giving it a chance to promote its activities. This year, in addition to EKRAN, the hosting institutions were: Robert Bosch Stiftung with the Jordanian Royal Film Commission, Canon and the French Institute.

Organization of the event was made possible by the support of the Polish Film Institute.
