Black Nights and Norden launch Nordic Video Library in Estonia

An unique online and offline platform presenting Nordic films for educational purposes - Nordic Video Library in Estonia - will be launched on 25th of March at the Tallinn Film and Media School in the framework of school's anniversary week.

The pioneering platform in the region Nordic Video Library in Estonia has been initiated by Nordic Council of Minister's Office in Estonia and developed by Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) and its online content management platform - the BMO available at www.blackmarketonline.eu
"Nordic countries and Estonia have been culturally very close. And therefore the awareness of Nordic films could be higher. With the new platform our goal is to provide recent and older Nordic films for free for film students, lecturers and also Nordic language centres in Estonia. PÖFF, which had the technical platform already developed, joined the initiative and now the platform is ready to use," said Berth Sundström, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia.
The online & offline video library provides altogether 36 films from all Nordic countries including awarded Roy Andersson's “ Songs from the second floor” (200), Bent Hamer's “Kitchen stories”(2003), Tomas Alfredson's “Let the right one in”(2008) and Klaus Härö's “ The new man”(2007).
"The line-up will be updated throughout the year. In the future we would like to also involve the Nordic film archives to provide classics, as well," said Tiina Lokk from the PÖFF about the initiative.
Nordic Video Library in Estonia will be available for students and lecturers of educational institutions in Estonia.
The library is managed by Tallinn Black Nights Film festival’s BMO online content management and streaming platform known for its high usability for the viewers whilst providing high security for the content owners.
“Our online market platform, BMO, has always focused on innovation that brings filmmakers and technology sector together, and thus we are excited to be able to bring the unique project of Nordic films alive”, adds Lokk
The library was funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia and managed by the PÖFF.
During its anniversary week from March 25th to 28th the Baltic Film and Media School is also screening the latest student works that were made from March 2012 to March 2013.
