Now Accepting Applications for 8th edition of ScripTeast (2013-2014).

The writers can send their scripts till the end of July.

ScriptEast is a program for experienced screenwriters from Central and Eastern Europe. The goal of this project is to help to master the scripts in terms of international and marketing potential. It aims also to improve participants' networking skills introducing them to the world film industry.

A year long program consists of three stationary session and online cooperation with advisors. First stationary session takes place in Poland, second – during Berlinale. Final session takes place in Cannes during the IFF where the best script of a given edition is presented with the Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award. The Award also means 10.000 Euros money prize to be spent on further work on the project.

The workshops program, professionalism, meetings with film industry pros and individual approach to every single one project allow to make an universal script and on the other hand keep its individual character. Role of Creative Advisors in the program will be taken by the world best filmmakers supported like in previous editions by two great Head of Studies: Tom Abrams and Christian Routh. Every year a several dozens of scripts are sent to participate in the program, of which only 12 are selected.

If you are a filmmaker in Eastern Europe, a decision about making an application to the 8th edition of ScripTeast is basically a no-brainer, as the rewards are so obvious: it is a brilliant way to take a project in development forward quickly so that it has the best possible chance of raising production finance and reaching the widest possible audience. The results so far have made it one of the most effective training schemes in Europe”, says Christian Routh, Head of Studies for ScripTeast, many years’ selection chief of European Script Found, script consultant, teacher and expert in film development.

ScipTeast is a project, in which participating authors are well known in their countries. Participation gives them a chance to spread their wings and enter the network of international writers. Stephan Komandarev, Judith Elek, Damjan Kozole, Andrzej Bart to name just a few took part in ScripTeast.

This is a great opportunity to work hard on the script. You are surrounded by professionals, who have a true passion for your story, do not take the easy way and treat it only as something to do, atmosphere among participants and advisors is as between partners - not students and teachers - and filled with good energy. It was probably the first time I saw more advisors than participants taking part in workshops. And each one of them has another, original vision of cinema. ScripTeast gives a lot of inspiration and unforgettable experiences while working on your own scrip. I would recommend it to each and every screenwriter and director”, says Bartek Konopka, an Oscar nominated Polish writer and director.

The deadline for sending the scripts is July 31st. Along with a cover letter the authors are requested to apply with a script. Application package in English only should be sent in two ways: an online application via www.scripteast.pl and a hard copy by regular post to Independent Film Foundation address.

ScripTeast is organised by the Independent Film Foundation and supported by Media Programme, Polish Film Institute and Apple Film Production, with partnership of European Film Academy, Producers Network and ACE, Final Draft and Polish Television.
