Vilnius IFF launches new International competition “Baltic Gaze”

Vilnius International Film Festival is launching a new competition programme in 2014.

“Baltic Gaze” will concentrate on films created in the Baltic Sea region -- an area of increasing international interest.

Vilnius IFF’s artistic team will select feature and documentaries over 60 minutes that have never before screened in public in Lithuania.

Films that premiered in the previous year are eligible for consideration. (For 2014 competition films, premieres after January 1st 2013 will be considered).

The Baltic region includes ten countries -- Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation and Sweden.

The best film of “Baltic gaze” will be selected by an international jury and will be awarded a monetary prize.

In 2009, Vilnius IFF introduced “New Europe - New Names”, a competition programme with a solid international jury aimed at the best talent among debuting Central/Eastern European filmmakers. The programme was so successful it became one of the Vilnius IFF’s regular features.

The 19th Vilnius International film festival will be held March 21 – April 32014.
