The Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin supports the Romanian participation at the 64. Berlinale

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin, or ICR/RKI Berlin, is part of a global network of cultural institutes and together we make up Romania’s main arm of cultural diplomacy. Romanian Cultural Institute acts on several levels: as a diplomatic mission, cultural management unit, artistic and PR agency and as a centre for research and documentation.

The Institute was opened in 1999 and its team is responsible also for creating long-term partnerships between Romanian and German individuals and institutions.

In the last few years, Romanian films have been a constant presence on the screens of the world-renowned Berlin Festival. This year’s edition makes no exception, as the programme includes two Romanian films in Berlinale Forum: „The second game“, directed by Corneliu Porumboiu and „Le beau danger“, a film by René Frölke with the Romanian author Norman Manea.

Also at the 17th edition of SHOOTING STARS among the 10 prominent young actors from across Europe you will find the Romanian actress Cosmina Stratan. The section Berlinale Talents also invited four Romanian young professionals the actress Elena Andreea Vasile, the film director Adina Istrate, the producer Gabriela Suciu, and the editor Alexandru Bădeliță.

Alongside these production and Romanian film people, we are also highlighting the Romanian Stand at the Berlinale Market.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin is honoured to continue the partnership with the festival by supporting the Romanian presence at the Berlinale.
