Meet the Emerging Producers 2016 - vol.1

    Our workshop for talented documentary film producers knows its first participants. Please meet the first six up-and-coming European talents.

    MADELINE ROBERT

    After various experiences at festivals, in France and elsewhere, Madeline Robert dedicated her career to documentary films and settled in Lussas in 2008, in the Documentary Village. In 2011, she co-founded the production company, Les Films de la caravane, where she currently works. In 2012, she also took part in setting up the Doc Corner, a space dedicated to documentary films within the Cannes Festival Film Market. Since 2014, she has been working for Visions du Réel (Nyon, Suisse) at the programme department.

    MAX TUULA

    Before turning to filmmaking, Max, as a journalist, collaborated with various film trade magazines in Moscow and Europe. He also participated in the production of several shorts screened at festivals from Berlin to Abu Dhabi. In 2012, Max, together with Maria Gavrilova, founded a production company in Tallinn, focusing on documentaries and debuts. His first project was experimental docudrama I Don’t Love You by Kostomarov/Rastorguev that was screened at various festivals.

    CAROLINE VELAN

    Sociologist by training, Caroline Velan has conducted sociological and anthropological researches before moving on to the film world. She worked on a number of film productions for several Swiss and international production companies as a location manager, director’s assistant and production manager. Over the years, she has specialised in production of films for cinema, TV or web and organised international co-productions

    TAMARA BABUN

    Tamara graduated in Production at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. Since 2006, she has been working on films (shorts, features and documentaries) as a production assistant, location manager, production coordinator, production manager and producer. She has been producing the ZagrebDox Pro training programme since 2011. She joined Factum as executive producer in 2012.

    PATRICIA DRATI RONDE

    Patricia studied Film Studies at VSMU (University of Performing Arts, Bratislava). After graduation, she worked for several years as a journalist. In 2009, Patricia joined the CPH:DOX Film Festival as the Head of CPH:LAB, a cross-cultural training and project development programme for international filmmakers. She is the holder of the 2012 Robert Award (Danish Academy Award) in the Short Film category for the production oF Girl in the Water, a film by Jeppe Rønde. Since 2013, Patricia has also worked as a manuscript reader.

    TOMAS MICHALEK

    Tomáš was born in Prague. During his studies at FAMU’s Production Department, he collaborated on the release of a DVD collection of films by Drahomíra Vihanová, and initiated the publication of Czech version of French comics Klezmer by Joann Sfar. He spent one semester at Chapman University in California. In 2011, he co-founded the Prague-based production company MasterFilm, where he produces his own projects; he focuses mainly on independent art cinema.
