Film? We take it seriously! Visegrad Film Forum starts in a less than a week!

    The 5th Visegrad Film Forum (VFF) is less than a week away. Five days full of master classes with renowned experts as one of the most awarded young Polish filmmaker Bartosz Konopka, a cult film director and producer from Iceland Fridrik Thór Fridriksson, whose second feature film Children of Nature became the first Icelandic film ever nominated for an Oscar or one of the most successful Slovak cinematographers of today Martin Žiaran, ASK DOP of extraordinary film Hany which was filmed using three 25-minute shots to looks like one single shot.

    With co-operation of EFA (European Film Academy) we will also host costume designer of Les Miserábles or The Danish Girl Paco Delgado. Participants can find all the information about the other guest speakers as three time Oscar nominated Polish director Agnieszka Holland, or production designer László Rajk who worked with Béla Tarr, Miklós Jancsó, Costa Gavras or Ridley Scott, and the director of Israel Film Fund Katriel Schory on the official website.

    Thanks to VFF participants have a special opportunity to see unique films and discuss with filmmakers directly. VFF will be open on Tuesday, April 5 by screening of the second Hungarian Oscar winner Son of Saul in the presence of film architect László Rajk. Next days VFF will continue by Konopka ́s awarded documentary films Rabbit à la Berlin and The Art of Disappearing, one of the first film projects by Agnieszka Holland – her diploma film The Sin of God, which will be a part of her master class and also her second feature film Fever, which was immediately banned by the Polish Communist government upon its release.

    The main topic of this year ́s VFF - audience development and film literacy, connected with European cinema is also the reason of the screening of Blancanieves – one of the most successful European films in 2013, with a presence of a costume designer Paco Delgado. We will close VFF on Saturday, April 9 with the debut feature film by Fridrik Thór Fridriksson –White Whales, which gained a Special Mention at Locarno International Film Festival in 1987.

    Expect the master classes and case studies of the more than interesting European films, we continue with the friendly battles of our partner schools. You will see the best from film schools in Central and Eastern Europe in blocks of two partner schools in each one every day.

    Presentation of European projects, connected with audience development and film literacy will be on Friday, April 8. During this special Audience development and film literacy day VFF will welcome presenters as the director of Doc Alliance Academy Nina Numankadić, or Eroll Bilibani, the executive director of DokuFest - International Documentary and Short Film Festival - the largest film festival in Kosovo, Michal Michalovič from Filmový kabinet (The Film Cabinet), Maciek Jakubczyk – an expert for Polish Film Institute on children film screenplays from New Horizons Association, Ivo Anderle and his distribution project Scope 100 and others.     Visegrad Film Forum (VFF) is a networking and educational platform for emerging film professionals, students with major in film, media or audio-visual studies and film enthusiasts.

    Through open dialogue, sharing and exchange of innovative experiences it aims to strengthen cooperation among young film professionals. VFF's main goal of is to set up an educational base focused on film-making issues specific for Europe and to promote quality projects of young filmmakers, allowing them to introduce their work and find partners for their international co- productions. VFF is divided into several sections, including screenings of student films, master classes with renowned experts and case studies of interesting film projects. This year eight partner schools are involved from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine, Romania and Montenegro.
