WE ARE NEVER ALONE BY PETR VACLAV AT TORONTO IFF

We Are Never Alone, the fourth feature film of Petr Vaclav, will be presented in early September at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in Contemporary World Cinema section. The picture premiered this year in Berlinale’s Forum where it received Tagesspiegel Reader’s Jury Award and later screened at several other international film festivals.

Toronto IFF is a crucial gate to the North American market and together with Sundance and a few other festivals on the continent belongs among the most important festivals in the world.

Last year, the festival’s official program presented short film Peacock by Ondřej Hudeček and co-production titles Koza by Ivan Ostrochovský and Eva Nová by Marko Škop.

“I’m very pleased that Petr Vaclav’s film will be presented in Toronto. This continues the rising trend of Czech participation at major film events, not only in Europe. Just this year alone our films have succeeded in great competition to be selected for Sundance, Berlinale, Cannes, Hot Docs, Shanghai and many other festivals. And Toronto won’t be the last…” hints Markéta Šantrochová.

Czech Film Center will for the first time participate in Toronto in a joint European delegation, as part of European Film Promotion presentation together with agencies from eight other countries.

Apart from We Are Never Alone, the festival also presents French-German-Czech co-production Personal Shopper, the star studded film by Olivier Assayas. Shot in part in Prague, the film premiered at Cannes FF in May.
