    A NEW DIRECTION FOR EUROVOD

    NEWLY ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS SHOWCASE A NEW ERA OF DIVERSITY & GLOBAL OUTLOOK FOR THE EUROPEAN VOD INDUSTRY

    During the last EUROVOD General Assembly, which took place on the 21st October, a new Board of Directors was elected for a 2-year term.  The new board is joining after a 10-year presidency by Jean-Yves Bloch (former Director of Le Meilleur du Cinéma), who, along with Maxime Lacour (UniversCiné Belgium) and Filmin (José Antonio De Luna & Jaume Ripoll) were the founding figures for the association in 2010 and pioneers in bringing together the independent European VOD sector.  Through their legacy, EUROVOD is today a renowned well-established international association overseeing the partnership of European VoD platforms, under a common umbrella of 30 members.

    The new Board is headed by Marc Putman, the CEO of OUTTV Media.  Marc stated, “I am very excited to be working alongside our new Board members and to help shape a new era of diversity and global outlook for the European VOD industry.  We look forward to showing more representation within the European VOD industry and promoting the diverse voices of European films.  At the same time, we look forward to forming new partnerships internationally that would help raise awareness not just of the European VOD sector, but also the rich and talented European films that we have to show the rest of the world.”

    Marc is joined by a diverse team of six other Board members who brings extensive experience in cinema, film distribution, development and technology.

    The 7 newly elected members of the Board are:
                           
    Marc Putman / President  CEO of
    OutTV Media (NL), which runs multiple tv-channels in various countries in Europe, Israel and LATAM, launching in 2018 they launched their own VOD platform to address the LGBTI-audience in Europe. OUTTV Media runs a 360 degrees content exploitation model, owning the film distribution partners PRO-FUN MEDIA based Frankfurt and Cinemien in Amsterdam, focusing on the distribution of European arthouse films

     A NEW PROFESSIONAL PLATFORM FOR THE VOD INDUSTRY

    EUROVOD PRO, the new online market and community dedicated to the Video on Demand sectors been launched the 16th October on Beta version.

    Powered by EUROVOD and co-financed by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, EUROVOD PRO offers a place for professionals working within the VoD industry to meet, to find benchmark data, share resources, find partners for business development and funding, as well as to find information and receive training on the VoD Industry.  EUROVOD PRO’S mission is to offer a one-stop community where companies can showcase and promote their own business as well as find new partners and potential clients, which the platform facilitates by helping users to identify the kind of content, geography and technical services the companies may be interested in.

    It is available to all audiovisual professionals, companies, institutions around the world who are involved in the Video on Demand industry.

    OCTOBER 17 / MIA MARKET ROME - "THE ONLINE CHALLENGE: NEW BUSINESS IN PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION MODELS FOR DIGITAL PLATFORMS" 

    EUROVOD took part of the panel "The Online Challenge: new business in production and distribution models for digital platforms", organized by MIA - Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo, the market where more than 250 participants from 50 countries met both in Rome and online. Silvia Cibien - General Delegate for EUROVOD – attended on behalf of the association along with Jaume Ripoll (Filmin and EUROVOD Member), Maurizio Imbriale (RaiPlay) and Giorgio Tacchia (CHILI).     The online conference dedicated to the European VoD Industry was organized by Creative Europe Desk Poland. EuroVoD members were the guests of the panel Together or apart – international cooperation and cross-border activities of platforms with Agustina Lumi (EuroVoD's Tech PM), Marc Putman (OUTTV Media CEO & EuroVoD's president), Saša Stanišić (Cinesquare) and Michael Gubbins (SampoMedia), author of the EUROVOD 2020 report "Diverse, Dynamic, Sustainable : Evolution of a European Independent VOD sector". In the panel Globally and locally – building an audience for VoD platformsFilmin (Jaume Ripoll), FilmDoo (Weerada Sucharitkul) and LaCinetek (Jean-Baptiste Viaud) were among the speakers.

    20 NOVEMBER / TORINO SHORT FILM MARKET: EUROVOD CONFERENCE & WORKSHOP

    EuroVoD is announcing the partnership with the Torino Short Film Market co-organising, along with the Creative Europe Desks MEDIA Italy and Sweden a conference and workshop online on the 20th November from 3 to 5pm.

    The conference "
    Diverse, Inclusive, Sustainable: the European Short Film Industry Online"  will be followed by the workshop "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About VoD * But Were Afraid to Ask - the Short Version" held by EuroVoD, that will be of first one of a series of webinars that will be held in 2021 with the aim of helping film and audio-visual professionals to develop tools to better understand, approach and interact with the VoD world.

    23 NOVEMBER / VOD FOR BEGINNERS: TIPS & TRICKS FO DISTRIBUTING YOUR DOCUMENTARIES ONLINE

    EUROVOD is happy to announce a partnership with Docushuk, for the organisation of an online workshop for the Israeli documentary film industry, indented to be an introductory course to help professionals navigate the VoD ecosystem, with a focus on the documentary sector. From a market analysis overview, to practical tools to find and deal with VoD platforms and stakeholders, the seminar will also include a large "Ask Anything" session and mentoring services.

    NEW REPORT OF THE EAO: FROM CINEMA TO VOD - 2020 EDITION

    On November 3rd, the European Audiovisual Observatory released a new report on theatrical and VoD release of films in Europe. It looks at how many films released in European cinemas since 1996 made it to Video-On-Demand. The report illustrates the complex relationships between the release of films in cinemas and on VOD. One of the findings of the report is that the number of European films making it from cinema to VOD is 2.6 times higher than the number of US films!
