WEMW launches the brand-new Slate Market and opens call for all works-in-progress sections!

    After announcing the call for its upcoming 12th Co-Production Forum, taking place both in Trieste and online between 24-28 January 2022, WEMW now opens the calls for an exciting first edition of the Slate Market and for all the sections targeting feature fiction films and full-length documentaries in post-production!

    WEMW Slate Market & EAVE Consultancies
    Deadline: November 30, 2021
    This brand-new innovative programme will select 5 companies that are developing a slate of A/V works and will offer them consultancies on how to build a successful company slate and strategic company planning, together with business-to-business exchanges with key players from different industry sectors.
    The programme combines the EAVE group work method with a series of plenary sessions and individual consultancies focusing on strategic company planning, potential risk evaluation and company diversification. The main goal is to define realistic short-, mid- and long-term strategies for their companies and to outline the next steps for each project included in their company slates.
    Selected teams will have tailor-made curated meetings with a series of WEMW Business Angels, and will receive advice on co-production, financing, marketing and distribution, according to the primary needs of their projects and slates. More info at the following link.

    Last Stop Trieste
    Documentary Fine-Cut-Session
    Deadline: November 30, 2021
    LST will select documentaries in fine cut stage that have been presented in previous years at one of our partner events:  Ex-Oriente Film, Balkan Discoveries at the Balkan Documentary Centre, Docu Rough Cut Boutique at Sarajevo Film Festival/Sofia, ZagrebDox PRO, Baltic Sea Forum and When East Meets West. Selected documentaries will be showcased in Trieste to an exclusive panel of decision makers and at the same time online to all invited festival programmers, sales agents and commissioning editors. Each selected team will also be offered both on-site and online feedback sessions. More info at the following link.

    Fiction Work-in-Progress Session
    Deadline: November 30, 2021
    Section exclusively dedicated to long feature fiction films and hybrid works with a strong visual and artistic approach produced or co-produced by Italian producers. Starting from this year, films from the East & West 2022 spotlight territories (Russia & UK, Ireland, Canada, USA) are also eligible and can be selected for the special section This is NOW. Selected teams will have the chance to screen 8' of their films in post-production (or at least partially shot) to an exclusive panel of international decision makers who will follow the event either on-site in Trieste or online.     First Cut Lab | Trieste
    Workshop for Films in Editing Phase
    Deadline: November 30, 2021
    First Cut Lab Trieste is a consultancy programme designed for feature fiction films in editing phase from one of the WEMW 2022 spotlight countries (Russia & UK, Ireland, Canada, USA). Selected teams screen their full rough cut in a private session to receive feedback from three top industry advisers and a consultant editor. The main goal is to foster the artistic potential of selected rough cuts and, at the same time, increase the sales, festival and circulation potential of completed films.     First Cut+
    Workshop on marketing and promotion
    Deadline: November 15, 2021
    First Cut+ program is conceived for providing to eight selected films' teams a specific workshop on marketing and promotion in order to launch their film in the best way possible into the international market. The program will be divided in three important modules: masterclasses, specific consultations and a Work-in-Progress session.More info at http://firstcutlab.eu/first-cut-plus/.

    In the coming weeks we will announce the WEMW Inspirational Labs and we will unveil other initiatives included in the rich program of the 2022 edition, but in the meantime we are also happy to remind you that you can submit your project in development to the WEMW Co-Production Forum until October 30, 2021.
