3rd Open Training Session: 10 Years of Documentary Campus

    Munich, 9 August 2010 - Documentary Campus announces exclusive 3D screening of Cane Toads: The Conquest by Mark Lewis and Future Of Media panel to be part of the 10 Year Anniversary programme. To celebrate a whole decade of successful work, the training initiative will host a mammoth event in Munich, Germany from 10 to 12 September 2010!

    One of the highlights of this very special anniversary programme is the private European premiere screening and presentation of the 3D documentary film Cane Toads - The Conquest by director Mark Lewis - it's an exclusive event for Documentary Campus eyes only! The production has been described as "Chaplin comedy, Hitchcock suspense, ecological paranoia and Homeric 3D odyssey" while filmmaker Lewis was named a "master of world cinema!" Cane Toads, in L.A. called ‘AVATOAD' - documentary's answer to ‘AVATAR', will kick off the 10 Years of Documentary Campus weekend on Friday, 10 September 2010.

    Other celebration activities of Documentary Campus will include controversial and thought provoking panels such as the panel on the Future of Media hosted by Steve Hewlett. Hewlett has been Editor of BBC One's documentary strand Inside Story, Editor of Panorama, Head of Factual and Features at Channel 4 and Managing Director of Carlton Television. Currently he is presenting The Media Show weekly on BBC Radio 4. Furthermore, his positions include Chair of Sheffield Doc/Fest, visiting Professor of Journalism and Broadcast policy at Salford University, as well as fellow of the Royal Television Society.

    For the panel discussion in Munich, Hewlett will be joined by Alex Connock, Chief Executive of the leading multimedia production company Ten Alps, UK, and Andreas Briese, Strategic Partner Development Manager of YouTube/Google, Germany.

    Documentary Campus also welcomes Prof. Dr. Jo Groebel, Director of the German Digital Institute in Berlin, with a keynote address on the future of media. Prof. Dr. Groebel, one of the most influential thinkers in Europe, advised Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Bill Clinton on media policy, wrote books on Television over the Internet (Noam, Groebel, Gerbag, 2004) and Mobile Media (Groebel, Noam, Feldmann, 2006), he was co-founder and is editor of the technical journals Medienpsychologie and Trends in Communication. Documentary Campus is honoured to present Prof. Dr. Groebel to take us into the future and set the tone for our weekend of celebrations.

    Screenings of finished Masterschool films, a pitching forum for Masterschool alumni, workshops and networking opportunities with commissioning editors & filmmakers from across the globe will also be part of the weekend. More details and surprises will be announced soon.
