The author of Oscar-nominated SOPHIE SCHOLL is coming to Poland

    Fred Breinersdorfer, the author of Oscar-nominated "Sophie Scholl" is coming to Poland to participate in the 5th edition of ScripTeast as a Creative Advisor. Breinersdorfer accepted the invitation of the Independent Film Foundation. During 7 days of the stationary workshop in Sterdyn he will be discussing the scripts submitted by the participating screenwriters on one-on-one meetings.

    Educated as a lawyer and writer, Fred Breinersdorfer wrote 12 novels and numerous theatre and radio plays before he became a screenwriter. He's an author of 65 screenplays, many of which were internationally recognized and awarded, including the German Film Award and Adolph Grimme Preis mit Gold - called "German Oscar".

    Breinersdorfer gained international acknowledgment as the author of „Sophie Scholl" - the shocking portrayal of one of the legendary fighters of the Nazi regime in Germany. The film was nominated to the Oscar and received 16 international awards, including two Silver Bears in Berlin - Julia Jentsch for The Best Actress and Marc Rothemund for the Best Director and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. Julia Jentsch was also awarded with the European Film Award. International recognition of the film is a double success for Breinersdorfer, who not only was its screenwriter, but also the co-producer.

    Breinersdorfer is a member of the German film Academy. He was the President of the German Writers Association and run for the German parliament.

    ScripTeast is a training program which mission is to enhance already written scripts thanks to the consultation of the Creative Advisors. One-on-one meetings with the internationally acclaimed professionals in different creative disciplines allow the authors of the scripts to sharpen their objectives for the story and determine the best way to tell it, ScripTeast doesn't teach how to write a script. The aim is to collect the best already written scripts from Central and Eastern Europe and improve their communication skills, their "understandability" from a perspective of the worldwide audience.

    In previous edition the Creative Advisors were, among others: Marc Caro - Cesar Award laureate, screenwriter and director of „Delicatessen", Chris Collins - BAFTA winner producer of „Summer of Love", Licia Eminenti - screenwriting expert working for Arte and Eurimages, Robert Jones - the producer of "The Usual Suspects" and "Gosford Park", awarded with BAFTA, Oscar and European Film Award, Joelle Levie - long-term director of the Quebes division of Telefilm Canada, Antonio Saura - the producer of "Fados" and "Salome" and the founder of Latino Films distribution company, Media Business School, Mediterranean Development Agency and many others.

    ScripTeast was created by Dariusz Jablonski, the Polish director and producer, who is now the Artistic Director of the program, in co-operation with producers Violetta Kaminska and Izabela Wojcik, his closest associates. Together, apart from Apple Film Production and Avocado TV, they founded Independent Film Foundation to promote films of high artistic value and to create conditions for the artistic and professional development of the filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe.


    ScripTeast is organized by the Independent Film Foundation and supported by the European Union MEDIA Programme, Polish Film Institute, National Center for Culture in Poland, Visegrad Fund and Apple Film Production, in cooperation with the European Film Academy, the ACE Program, Producers Network, Final Draft and festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary.
