The Association of Polish Filmmakers and the NEW HORIZONS Association announce the new POLISH SHORT FILM Competition, to be held at the 8th International Film Festival ERA NEW HORIZONS in Wrocław from the 17th to the 27th July, 2008.This competition will be organised for the fourth time and it has already become an integral part of the festival.
This competitive section's goal is to allow the best Polish short films to confront the young festival audience and to present the latest films - those that have become important artistic or social events.
According to the regulations we will accept Polish short films: documentaries, animation and features, including works by Polish artists, made abroad, produced no earlier than in 2007 and lasting no longer than 60 minutes. The deadline for submitting films is 15.05.2008.
The POLISH SHORT FILM Competition is a kind audience plebiscite. The Association of Polish Filmmakers funded the following awards for the competition's winners: - for the best documentary - PLN 8,000, special award in this category - PLN 2,000- for the best animation - PLN 5,000, special award in this category - PLN 2,000- for the best feature film - PLN 5,000, special award in this category - PLN 2,000
The competition's results will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony on 27.07.2008 and this is also when the awards will be handed to the laureates. Detailed information about rules of participation in the competition are available on the festival's Internet site www.eranowehoryzonty.plThe International Film Festival ERA NEW HORIZONS, created and led by Roman Gutek, is the biggest film event in Poland. Last year 123 000 spectators watched the festival screenings. During 11 days 460 films were presented: 231 full-length features and documentaries and 229 medium-length and short films from 47 countries. About 130 of them had their Polish premieres here in Wrocław.
