LONDON: The Constitution by director Rajko Grlic took an unprecedented three main prizes at the 2017 London Raindance Film Festival, which concluded on 1 October. The film won prizes for best film, best screenplay and best performance.

The Constitution / Ustav Republike Hrvatske, a coproduction between Croatia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia and the UK, was produced by Interfilm and coproduced by In-Film, Sever&Sever, the Croatian Radio Television HRT and NP7, Revolution Production and Film and Music Entertainment. It received support from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Croatian Radio Television, Czech Film Foundation, Macedonian Film Agency, Slovenian Film Centre, Eurimages and MEDIA Programme.

The prizes were the latest in a string of festival successes following the film’s premiere in Montreal in 2016. The film, about four people living in the same building, who avoid one another because of their differing beliefs and pasts, is in contention for nomination for the EFA awards, which will be announced in early November.
