Czechs grant €2.4 million for film production in 2008/2009

    The State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography announced CZK57.4 million (2.38 million Euros) in grants for 2008 and 2009.

    Feature film production received 1.85 million Euros, with the largest amount, 622,000 Euros, going to the stylish black and white noir cartoon Alois Nebel from production house Negativ. David Ondricek received 415,000 Euros for his upcoming film.

    Distribution was another priority, with 360,000 Euros going to a selection of films, including A Country Doctor and Citizen Havel. Short film production, including documentaries, was granted 150,000 Euros, and 23,000 Euros went for screenplay development.
