JIHLAVA: Romanian director Cristi Puiu takes up the mantel of the sole juror for the international documentary competition Opus Bonum at the 23rd edition of the Ji.hlava IDFF, which runs 24-29 October 2019.

The festival has two unique jury sections. Opus Bonum, the main international competition section, has only one juror. The Short Joy competition is judged by online viewers prior to the opening of the festival, with the winner announced at the opening ceremony.

One of the most anticipated competition sections is Between the Seas. The five-member jury includes Serbian filmmaker Srdjan Keca, Bulgarian writer Kapka Kassabova, US film professor Timothy Corrigan, Italian film critic Alessandro Stellino and Brazilian NGO director Isabella Salton.

Altogether there will be six juries evaluating documentary films in six competitive categories, including the Czech Joy competition of Czech films.

The complete list of competition films will be announced two weeks before the opening of the festival.
