TALLINN: The first international territories where the Estonian/German/Latvian/Lithuanian trilogy Melchior: The Apothecary by Elmo Nüganen was sold by Global Screen are France, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. In Estonia the trilogy had almost 300,000 admissions.

FNE together with German Films is launching the Year of German Central European Films 2024 with a special focus on German films in central and eastern European countries plus Cyprus and Malta, and our partner countries’ films screening in Germany. This action takes place within the Frames of the celebrations of the 70 Years of German Films.

VILNIUS: Norwegian director/DoP John Andreas Andersen is currently in postproduction with his feature film N24, about the WW2 Resistance fighter Gunnar Sønsteby. The film is coproduced by the Lithuanian company Artbox.

TALLINN: The Estonian director/DoP/editor Erle Veber is currently in production with her documentary Art Therapy / Mäetamme seansid, about Estonian artist Marko Mäetamm and the healing effect of contemporary art on the spirit of both the artist and the audience.

TALLINN: Estonian director/DoP/producer Manfred Vainokivi is in production with his documentary First Olympic Champion / Esimene olümpiavõitja.

TALLINN: Rasmus Merivoo’s Alien 2 or The Return of Valdis in 17 Chapters / Tulnukas 2 ehk Valdise tagasitulek 17 osas, based on his cult classic short film, had over 68,000 admissions in Estonian cinemas in its first two weeks, which is the best start for a domestic production after COVID-19.

RIGA: Latvian director Dzintars Dreibergs is in production with his sophomore feature Escape Net / Tīklā. TTT leģendas dzimšana, a biopic about one of the world's most successful female basketball stars: Dzidra Karamiseva, the first Latvian woman to join the USSR national team.

TALLINN: Estonian directors Anastasia Zazhitskaya and Margus Õunapuu are currently in postproduction with their documentary On Silver Heels / Hõbekontsadel, which is an independent 100% Estonian coproduction about a team of amateur female hockey players.

RIGA: The Latvian brothers and directors Raitis and Lauris Ābele are putting the final touches on their new project, an adult folk tale and rotoscope animation Dog of God / Dieva suns, for which they are looking for a sales agent.
