Two documentaries from the selection East Silver Caravan, Romania's Planeta Petrila, directed by Andrei Dascalescu, and Macedonia's Avec l´Amour, directed by  Ilija Cvetkovski, will compete in the documentary section of Sarajevo Film Festival  (11-18 August 2017).

When the War Comes / Až přijde válka, directed by Jan Gebert, follows a young member of militia Slovak Recruits/ Slovenskí branci, one of the largest paramilitary organizations in Eastern Europe. This Czech / Croatian coproduction is currently in production. 

Czech director Andrea Culková is developing the documentary Testosterone Story.

Latvian long documentary The Smuggler, currently in production, follows a guy who is helping immigrants to get across the border between Russia and Latvia.

A Czech/Slovak/French documentary explores electronic music and its relationship to the tape recorder.

A Czech documentary follows the story of a 1960's Czech female dixieland band that rose to fame in South America.

Six new Czech documentaries are in production and four are in post-production.

Kiur Aarma is producing and co-directing Rodeo, an Estonian/Finnish documentary about the first free elections in Estonia.

Slovenia and Germany are coproducing a documentary about Kurdish women's rights.

A band composed of disabled singers is the subject for the Czech documentary Lust for Life by Radovan Síbrt.
