The 9th edition of "À l’Est, du Nouveau" Festival took place from 11th to 18th April 2014 in Rouen and Mont-Saint-Aignan, France. True to its tradition, "À l’Est, du Nouveau" is the only festival in France whose selection is exclusively composed of films from Central and Eastern Europe and proposing a competitive section. This Friday 18th April 2014, the jury held the prize ceremony for the À l’Est competitive section. The ceremony took place at the Ariel cinema in Mont Saint Aignan, with the presence of David Duponchel, director of the festival, and his team, as well as Ms. Catherine Flavigny, Mayor of Mont-Saint-Aignan.
This year, the festival was honoured by the presence of several prestigious guests such as the great Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Szabo, who participated in a master class, the Armenian actor and filmmaker Serge Avedikian, and the Polish actor Zbigniew Walerys.
After eight days spent in the screening rooms of the Omnia République and Ariel theatres, the members of the professional jury, the film director Stan Neumann, the chief editor of TessMagazine Pamela Pianezza and the arthouse programmer of the Omnia theatre Jean-Marc Delacruz, as well the student jury composed of 11 students, proceeded to the vote on the film selection proposed by the festival programmer Marketa Hodouskova.
The "À l’Est, du Nouveau" Festival is now pleased to reveal the prize list of the À l’Est competitive section of the 9th edition, chosen among eight nominated films :

The partner festival "Al Este de Lima", founded by the same team, will take place in Peru from 7th to 17th May 2014 and will present these films from Central and Eastern Europe on the South American continent (www.alestedelima.com).
