US in Progress Paris 2014 projects announced; Wroclaw submissions open till mid August

    We are excited to announce our selection for the third edition of US in Progress Paris. The following filmmakers/ producers will be invited to attend and present their soon-to-be-finished projects on June 11th 2014 in Paris in the frame of the Champs-Elysees Film Festival:

    - "Automatic at Sea",dir. Matthew Lessner, prod. David Henry Gerson

    - "Creative Control",dir. Benjamin Dickinson, prod. Mark dePace

    - "Eugenia and John",dir. Hossein Keshavarz, prod. Chad Burris

    - "Plastic Jesus", dir. Erica Dunton, prod. Lucy Mukerjee

    The movies will be screened to a selected group of European film buyers and festival programmers. One-to-one meetings will ensue to discuss the possible distribution deals. A professional jury will select one movie to receive a package of post-production services and promotion in Europe.

    At the same time submissions to Wroclaw edition of US in Progress during the 5th American Film Festival (21-26 October 2014) is open. Deadline is August 17th.     We would also like to thank Julia Halperin and Jason Cortlund for hosting a wonderful party at their home in Austin, Texas to celebrate US in Progress filmmakers (Wild Canaries' Lawrence Levine and Sophia Takal and Mike Tully of Ping Pong Summer) and promote the program at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Austin Film Society co-organized.

    US in Progress Wroclaw 2013 sends a producer to Producers' Network in Cannes to help US and European filmmakers network. In May 2014 Steve Holmgren (close collaborator of Matt Porterfield, producer of I Used to Be Darker among others) will attend.

    We would also like to congratulate US in Progress alumn Onur Tukel for his premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival with a vampire-comedy Summer of Blood.
