A l’Est du Nouveau, palmarès X° édition

    Little Crushes by Ireneusz Grzyb and Aleksandra Gowin Little Crushes by Ireneusz Grzyb and Aleksandra Gowin

    The Award Ceremony Closed the A L’Est du Nouveau Film Festival on Friday, April 24th 2015

    The prize of the STUDENT JURY was awarded to

    Little Crushes (Male stluczki), a Polish film by Aleksandra Gowin and Ireneusz Grzyb.

    Aurélie Sans, the president of the Jury and her six associates appreciated their role as jurors in the festival.

    The prize of the JURY went to the Serbian film

    Monument to Michael Jackson (Spomenik Majklu Džekson),by Darko Lungulov

    whichtells the story of an outrageous project of a monument intended to replace the fallen idols of the Communist period in ex-Yugoslavia. A soft, burlesque, and political comedy.

    This year’s members of the jury were

    Colette de Castro, film critic from New Zealand;

    Fabrice Ricque, director of the Ariel Cinema;

    Michael Feron, owner of the l’Escalier bookshop in Rouen.

    The closing ceremony took place in the Ariel cinema in Mont-Saint-Aignan, where the festival was founded in 2002. This year, the festival presented more than 30 films in the Omnia cinema in Rouen, the Grand Mercure in Elbeuf, and the Drakkar in Yvetot. Other screenings took place in the Maison Saint Sever, in the Creative Space l’UBI, in the Alsace Lorraine Street in Rouen, as well as in the School of Architecture in Darétal.

    The festival also offered special educational screenings, motivating more than 1000 young moviegoers for Polish animations. The box-office attained a similar figure.

    The public interest for the festival went far beyond the screenings and was particularly noticeable through the many enthusiastic comments on social media websites, and was also realized by our successful crowdfunding campaign.

    This tenth edition also represented an important anniversary for which various special events took place such as a film screening with live music of the “les amis de Fantomus” group, and the closing party on the Bodega boat on the Seine river where Balkan music of the groups “le Fil d’Ariane” and “Raki Balkans Sounds System”  kept festivalgoers dancing through the night.

    The Festival franchise will shortly take place in Paris from the 11 to the 23 of May, thanks to the partnership with the Czech Cultural Center. It will then travel to Peru, where it will be part of the AL ESTE DE LIMA at the end of May and continues touring in Argentina in August.

    For Rouen now begins the assessment phase. We are already in the process of establishing contacts for the realization of next year’s edition of a festival that is open to other European cultures.
