Polish film "Body" from Poland wins 6th edition of Festival AL ESTE DE LIMA in Peru

    Lima, 1st june 2015.- Malgorzata Szumowska´s film "Body"(Cialo) from Poland won the sixth edition of AL ESTE DE LIMA Festival, dedicated to Eastern Europe films. "The story of a hard relationship between father and daughter, treated in an original style and notable capacity to combine drama, mistery, spirituality and humor"  was the motive of this election by the jury. 

    This film was chosen among 10 other eastern european movies by the jury conformed by polish filmaker Pawel Pawlikowski, famous for the movie "Ida" that won the Oscar, Bafta, Goya, and many other awards; Ricardo Bedoya, recognized peruvian movie critic; Vanessa Saba, actress and screenwriter; and Enrica Pérez, peruvian filmaker. The award was received by polish ambassador in Lima, Izabela Matusz.

    The special mention was for George Ovashvili´s czech film "Corn Island", and best actors were Klaudia Dudová ("Cesta Ven") and Janusz Gajos ("Cialo").

    The director of "Body", Malgorzata Szumowska, gave her speech via teleconference from Warsaw. She said that she would love to visit Peru soon.

    "Body" is a comedy that tells the story of a busy attorney, anxious that his anorexic daughter, who sorrows the death of his mother, hurt herself He sends her to a psychiatrist to deal, in a peculiar way, for its own loss . Szumowska won the Silver Bear at the recent edition of the Berlinale for Best Director.

    In the sixth edition of AL ESTE DE LIMA were ten films in competition from Austria, Eslovenia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Letonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Russia. The Festival presented 40 screenings out of competition, two retrospectives of polish filmaker and documentarist Pawel Pawlikowski and "Czech New Wave" cult filmaker, Vera Chytilová.

    During the closing ceremony the shortfilm "G" by No Hay Nanda was given the first prize in the second edition of Lima 48 Hour Film Project competition, a franchise in more than 130 countries. This shortfilm will represent Peru in the world competition in Filmapalooza Festival, in Los Angeles.

    A selection of the best films featured in this Festival wil still be playing in theaters for a few days in Lima, in sala Cine Arte de UVK Multicines Larcomar and Centro Cultural PUCP
