CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR THE 56TH KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL IS NOW OPEN

    Krakow, 6th October 2015 - The call for entries for the 56th Krakow Film Festival, which is held from 29th May to 5th June 2016, is now open. The organizers are waiting for documentary, animated and short film submissions.

    Krakow Film Festival, one of the most important European film festivals showing short, documentary and animated films, is held every year at the turn of May and June in Krakow. The event is accredited by International Federation of Film Producers Association - FIAPF, and nominates films for the awards of the European Film Academy and the American Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences. The event's pillars include four competitions of equal rank - national and three international ones: Short Film Competition, Documentary Film Competition and DocFilmMusic Competition for music documentary films.

    In the Short Film Competition, feature, animated and documentary films with a running time of no more than 30 minutes compete for the Golden Dragon. In the Documentary Competition documentary films with a running time longer than 30 minutes participate, and the best of them gets the Golden Horn. In the DocFilmMusic Competition, the Golden Heynal award goes to one of music documentaries with a running time of more than 50 minutes. Polish feature and animated films with a running time not exceeding 30 minutes and documentary films of unlimited length can be submitted for the National Competition to winthe Golden Hobby Horse. Out of the Polish films submitted, the selection committee chooses those, which will take part in international competitions.

    Foreign films made in 2015 and 2016 that have not been screened publicly before 1st June 2015 and Polish films made in 2015 and 2016 may take part in competitions. In all three international competitions, a Polish première is required, while an international première is preferred. One entity can submit 5 films for free. The fee for each subsequent film is 10 €.

    Films should be submitted for selection in the following way:

    1. By sending a public or private link to the film, with or without a login, with unlimited access, not restricted by time or territory (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube, etc.).

    2. By uploading an MP4 or MOV file with the film to the festival server.

    The deadlines for submitting films to the selection in the short, documentary and DocFilmMusic competitions:

    • for films made prior to 31st October 2015 : 30th November 2015
    • for films made after 31st October 2015: 31st January 2016
