Tallinn Black Nights announces line-ups of Digitech Corner, Undiscovered Soundscapes, and IGDA GameJam

    The 19th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is announcing details of three exciting sidebars in the Industry@Tallinn event - Black Nights Digitech Corner, IDGA GameJam and Undiscovered Soundscapes. Digitech Corner (Nov 18-19) is a showcase of Nordic startups and audiovisual technology and content enterprises, while the pioneering IGDA Gamejam 2015 “Film Fellowship” (Nov 13-15) will see teams of game developers and musicians creating game prototypes based on film IPs and Undiscovered Soundscapes (Nov 15-17) will see a presentation of Estonian music composers to international film directors and producers and a workshop on when and how to use music in films.

    Black Nights Digitech Corner

    Black Nights Digitech Corner is a brand new two-day showcase, product demonstration and networking platform for the regional audiovisual & ICT tech, gaming, startup & VC community. Taking place in the Theatre NO99 building on 18-19 November, it will run parallel to the European Film Forum Tallinn held in the same building, with participants of Black Nights Digitech Corner holding power speeches and doing product introductions during the conference.

    Participants

    Digital Sputnik - produces DS LED lights for visual content creation, allowing for system cutbacks on infrastructure, team size, reduced power consumption and faster setup without compromising on the light quality or output.Equipment produced in Estonia in DS facilities have been used on projects such as Independence Day: Resurgence, The Huntsman, The Neon Demon, The Lion, Dawn, Queen of the Desert, True Detective, Star Wars: Rogue One, etc.

    Fundwise - an equity crowdfunding platform for campaigners and investors. During the first month entrepreneurs invested €125,000 equity through the Fundwise platform. Campaigns introduced more than 10,000 people in more than 100 countries. (Fundwise has been operating for two months.)

    Zerply - a production talent marketplace for the entertainment industries of film, games and virtua reality. Clients include studios behind titles such as Halo, Game of Thrones, The Avengers, Chappie, etc.

    Criffin - offers omnidirectional movement and full body tracking devices for virtual reality applications and motion capture systems (character animation in feature films, game development & anime).

    Other participants include video-on-demand company Vifi.ee, optical and electronic viewfinder manufacturer Kinotehnik, real-time teamwork canvas programme Deekit, startup lifestyle media company Hype TV, real-time picture focussing technology Sensition, 3D printing company Wolfprint, Estonian e-Residency project, virtual workspace application Fleep, sales analytics app Pipedrive and cloud-based film production management tool APMS.

    IGDA Gamejam 2015 “Film Fellowship”

    IGDA Gamejam 2015 “Film Fellowship” invites game developers and musicians teaming up to build game prototypes based on films, chosen from a list provided by IGDA and Tallinn Black Nights FF.After the participants have pitched game ideas for the film IPs and formed teams, they will have 48 hours to build a prototype with international mentors advising on ideas and execution.


    The holder of the winning film IP is urged to support the full development of the game. The other teams can also keep developing their games, but can not make profit without the permission of the IP holder.

    Undiscovered Soundscapes

    Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, teaming up with Apollo Music for the first time, presents its fourth talent lab and showcase programme that introduces Estonian film music composers to international film directors and producers.
    At Soundscapes, five carefully selected Estonian composers will showcase their recent film score or music to international filmmakers.
    Film music workshop To Score or Not To Score? for directors and producers will engage the topic of how and where to use music in films. 
    It is mentored by award-winning Danish composer Halfdan E whose recent works include composing for acclaimed Danish series Borgen which has screened all over the world. 

    Participants

    • Liina Kullerkupp - composer for one of this year's most popular Estonian films Secret Society of Soup Town.
    • Marianna Liik - newcomer, winner of 2014 SoundTrack_Cologne festival’s film music award.
    • Sten Sheripov - experienced composer, producer, musician, and sound designer whose styles range from orchestral to acoustic and electronic creations.
    • Tiit Kikas - presenting his recent score music for the Estonian film Ghost Mountaineer accompanied by the world premiere at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
    • Liisa Hirsch - experimental musician and composer for numerous documentaries, shorts & theatrical productions.
