Tudor Chirilă is presenting the programme of the Astra Film Festival 2021

    `The Documentary is bringing that area of balance one needs to understand the world`, says the artist

    Tudor Chirilă recommends the programme of the 28th edition of the Astra Film Festival in Sibiu. In his message, which will be screened at the opening of the festival, Tudor Chirilă refers to the importance of documentary film, respectively to the impact that a cultural event such as the Astra Film Festival can have on the audience. The opening event will take place on Sunday, September 5th (6pm), at The Lake Stage in the Astra Museum. The Astra Film Festival in Sibiu will take place between September 5th-12th in open air, in cinemas and online. Like last year, the audience will enjoy float-in film screenings as part of a special programme called `The Lifeboats`.

    The Opening Gala is produced by director Carmen Lidia Vidu. Immediately after the opening gala, there will be a screening of `Once You Know` (2021 - France, directed by Emmanuel Cappellin), a film that explores the way climate change that is throwing the world into collapse, followed by a Martyn Jacques of The Tiger Lillies concert.     The founding director of the Astra Film Sibiu festival believes that among the audience there will be many young people that will participate in the 200 film events - a growing trend, already visible in recent editions.

    In fact, the organizers of the Astra Film Festival in Sibiu are offering this year the #AFFStudentPass, a special access card for undergraduates, masters, and PhD students in Romania and elsewhere.     The 28th edition of Astra Film Festival - The International Documentary Film Festival in Sibiu celebrates life, in all its diversity, through the over 200 cinematographic events. Launched in 1993 as an innovative project in Central and Eastern Europe, AFF Sibiu is an essential event in the European documentary film community, proving to be the most important festival of its kind in Romania, summing up a culture and a history of documentary cinema for decades.
