Calls for Ji.hlava industry programmes & New visual

    POSTER OF THE THIS YEAR’S JI.HLAVA IDFF WAS UNVEILED - The visual identity of the 27th Ji.hlava IDFF has been revealed! It refers to calligraphy and at the same time works with the principle of mirroring. The author of the visuals, Juraj Horváth, is an award-winning book graphic designer and illustrator who has been the creator of the festival’s visual identity for over two decades and is also behind the celebrated EMERGING PRODUCERS catalogues.     JI.HLAVA NEW VISIONS: CALL FOR EUROPEAN PROJECTS  

    We invite European filmmakers to submit their projects to the Ji.hlava New Visions Forum & Market 2023! Projects presented at the Forum in the past two years have later premiered at festivals including HotDocs, Rotterdam, Locarno. We welcome diverse audiovisual formats such as fiction with documentary aspects, hybrid, experimental, short films, docu and web series, cinema expanded projects, games with documentary aspects, and VR+AR+Live documentaries. This year, we introduce new cash awards at the Forum, in cooperation with Current Time TV and FilmAid. The deadline for applications is August 15, check out the details here.

    REGISTRATIONS TO FESTIVAL IDENTITY ARE OPEN

    The 14th edition of Festival Identity – a networking platform for film festivals at the Ji.hlava IDFF – will search for sustainable ways how to collaborate effectively among film festivals in the environment which often accentuates competitiveness. The Festival Identity workshop will take place on October 25 and the 300 EUR participation fee includes industry accreditation with masterclasses, presentations, discussions, Ji.hlava New Visions Forum & Market, Matchmaking Accelerator, full access to the festival screenings plus three nights of accommodation covered by the festival. Registrations are now open.

    CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – JUNE 30 DEADLINE

    Three days are left to submit to Ji.hlava your rough cuts and films that have not yet had a festival world premiere. We accept feature-length and short films, animated, hybrid, interactive documentaries as well as VR projects. The films premiered at Ji.hlava have a chance to be nominated for the European Film Academy Awards and the winners at the Ji.hlava IDFF are also eligible for Oscar® consideration in the Documentary Short Subject and Documentary Feature Subject categories.

    BODIES OF WATER WILL NAVIGATE IF LAB 2023/24

    We call artists and scientists to join the Inspiration Forum Lab, Ji.hlava’s interdisciplinary research programme which this year asks how water can guide us in the search for solutions to pressing ecological problems through its ability to connect the human scale with all other scales of life. Theoretical lectures and workshops with experts from artistic and non-artistic disciplines will take place at the Ji.hlava IDFF, the Kersnikova Institute in Slovenia and during Sensorium in Bratislava between October 2023 and June 2024.
