SOFIA: Swedish cable owner EQT received a fine from the Bulgarian consumer protection agency for misleading information concerning its Bulgarian cable company. Blizoo, the largest cable operator in the country, was fined 30,000 BGN (15,500 EUR) for misleading advertising.

According to Bulgarian news source Novinte, the cable company advertised an offering of over 150 channels, when in actuality only 112 were in the package.

Blizoo (www.blizoo.bg) was formed from a merger of the country's two major cable operators in 2010. The fine is said to equal 0.03% of the company's 2010 profits, although the fine could have been as high as 2% of annual profits.
