FESTIVALS: Bulgarian Golden Rose Film Festival Announces Line up

    VARNA: Thirteen films will be screened in the national official competition of the 33rd Golden Rose Film Festival from 6 to 11 of October 2015. The most important film festival in Bulgaria sees also a record number of short film, 18, in the second official competition programme. 

    The two main juries will be composed of only Bulgarian members this year. The president of the feature films jury will be Stephan Komandarev whose film The Judgment produced by Argo Film, Neue Mediopolis Filmproduktion, Sektor Film, Propeler Film) received the Golden Rose Award in 2014. The president of the short feature films competition will be the director Georgy Stoyanov, former president of the Union of the Bulgarian Filmmakers.

    A retrospective will be dedicated to the most important films made during the last century by the film director Dimitar Petrov. A second retrospective will remind the audience some of the most popular Bulgarian comedies. Two exhibitions will be devoted to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bulgarian cinema.

    A round table will be dedicated to the strategies, prospects and possible solutions for the development of the film industry in Bulgaria. A second debate will focus on the role of the state, municipalities and the business environment in the development of film festivals in Bulgaria. The digitalisation of the Bulgarian film heritage will be also discussed during the festival.
