PRAGUE: The Czech rotoscoped animated film Alois Nebel, which was selected as the Czech entry in the best foreign language film category, will also be eligible to compete in the animated film category. Producer Pavel Strnad said the film might also be able to compete in the Golden Globes awards.
The film would bring the total number of eligible animated films to 18, meaning the Academy would nominate five movies in the best animated film category.
Alois Nebel (www.negativ.cz) was directed by Tomas Lunak and adapted from a graphic comic book. The producers are now in negotiations for the required one-week U.S. screening in Los Angeles.
The film premiered at the Venice IFF
