2015-03-02

TBILISI: Georgian Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Mikheil Giorgadze and the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics have signed an Agreement on Georgian participation in the Creative Europe Programme in Brussels.

"The programme will offer excellent opportunities for Georgian artists to showcase their talent and open Georgia's rich cultural heritage up to European audiences. We also look forward to increasing cultural cooperation with European partners through the implementation of joint projects", said Giorgadze.

The event will allow Georgia to get funding in Europe for cultural networks, cultural cooperation projects, literary translation schemes, platforms in the framework of Creative Europe and also to take part in traning events.

Georgia is the first Eastern Partnership country to join Creative Europe after hosting the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Conference in Tblisi in 2013. The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is an initiative of the European Union governing its relationship with the post-Soviet states of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
