BUDAPEST: Organised for the fourth time by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI), the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival is going to take place in Veszprém, Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi on 12 - 15 June 2024 under a new name, MOZ.GO.

The festival will open with the screening of Tonight We Kill / Ma este gyilkolunk, a crime comedy directed by Péter Fazakas, produced by Film Positive Productions and starring legendary Hungarian actor András Kern, which will premiere at the end of 2024.

Nearly a hundred new Hungarian films will be screened in the festival, including many premieres, as well as international successes made in Hungary, such as multiple award-winning Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos, which earned an Oscar for the Hungarian set decorator Zsuzsa Mihalek.

This year, for the first time, exclusive behind-the-scenes materials will be screened of Hungarian productions that are still being made, such as Rise of the Raven / Hunyadi
directed by Orsi Nagypál, Attila Szász, Robert Dornhelm and Balázs Lengyel (produced by Serendipity Point Films, Beta Films, HG Media and Mr Films, and coproduced by TV2, Twin Media and  Sterreichischer Rundfunk), and I’m in the Army Now – With my Dad / S.E.R.E.G. directed by Linda Dombrovszky and produced by Megafilm Service.

During the 4th day of MOZ.GO, film director and screenwriter Judit Elek, actress Ildikó Piros, cinematographer Buda Gulyás, composer György Selmeczi and colour timer Baba Tamásné credit: Tamás Vasvári / MTIDeimanik will be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The festival will end with the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards gala. The films in the Competition programme will be awarded by a five-member professional jury led by director and writer Béla Ternovszky. This year, for the first time, the best producer will also be awarded.

Lajos Koltai’s Semmelweis boasts 15 nominations, while first feature film director’s Ádám Breier’s All About the Levkoviches received eight nominations, including for best feature film and best first feature film.
