First Latvian 3D Film Announced

    RIGA: Latvian filmmakers will team up with Romanian director Adina Istrate to produce the film Riga-2041, the first 3D film from Latvia.

    The film will shot in stereoscopic 3D with animator and artist Karlis Vitols, short film director Peteris Rozitis, actor and director Didzis Eglītis, and Romanian director Adina Istrate. Riga-2041 will be a science fiction film, composed of several stories and inspired by the stylistics of the sci-fi genre of the 1950's. It is produced by Urga and FreshStep Productions in collaboration with VFS Films and Botnia Film.

    Film producer Viesturs Grazdanovics (who is also the founder and director of the short film festival 2Annas) said the photography equipment and technologies were created for the film. The film will go into production next week. The creators are still seeking additional partners and potential crew members.

    Riga-2041 will be released in November 2014.
