Krakow Film Commission Finances Six Films

    KRAKOW: The Krakow regional film fund will support six new projects, including three feature films, two documentaries and one animation with a total of 1.150 million PLN.

    Krakow Film Commission (www.film-commission.pl) is supporting three feature films with the total amount of 1 million PLN (EUR 248,700).

    The biggest grant of 0.5 million PLN went to a drama directed by Wojciech Smarzowski, Angel, a film adaptation of a bestselling novel written by Andrzej Pilch about alcohol addition. The film is produced by Jacek Rzehak and his company ProFilm (www.profilm.com.pl) with a planned budget of 6.4 million PLN.

    A grant of 350,000 PLN was given to the drama Chwile Nieulotne ( Non-elusive Moments) directed by Jacek Borcuch. The film will follow a young student couple falling in love while working abroad and struggling to keep their relationship intact after returning home. The film is produced by Mańana (www.manana.pl) with a planned budget of 7 million PLN. The film previously received 3.5 million PLN from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).

    Obława (Manhunt), a WWII thriller directed by Marcin Krzyształowicz, received 150,000 PLN. The film is produced by Skropion Arte (www.skorpionarte.pl ) with a planned budget of 4.7 million PLN.

    The Commission granted 140,000 PLN ( EUR 35 000) to two documentaries. Lust Killer, a documentary directed by Marcin Koszałka and produced by his wife Natalia Bartkowicz-Koszałka and their independent company Darklight Film Studio (www.darklight.pl), will receive 100,000 PLN. Doctors, a portrayal of Polish medical professionals directed by Tomasz Wolski and produced by Kijora Anna Gawlita (www.tomaszwolski.cal.pl), received 40,000 PLN of financing.

    In the animation category, 10,000 PLN went to TOTO directed by Zbigniew Czapla and produced by Tomasz Wolf Warsztat Filmowy.
