WARSAW: Jack Strong, a new spy thriller by Władysław Pasikowski, will enter English and Irish cinemas on 14 February 2014.

The Polish Film Institute said Jack Strong will be distributed by Project London Films Ltd. and screened by the cinema chains Cineworld Cinemas and Omniplex. The film opened in Poland on 7 February distributed by the film’s coproducer ITI Cinema.

The thriller is based on the story of Colonel Ryszard Kukliński, one of the most controversial characters in Polish history, who became a spy trafficking secret Warsaw Pact documents to the CIA in order to avoid a nuclear conflict breaking out during the Cold War. The lead role is played by Marcin Dorociński, and features Maja Ostaszewska, Ireneusz Czop and Zbigniew Zamachowski. The film is produced by Scorpio Studio and coproduced by ITI Cinema and Orange Polska. The budget was 3.5 million USD and the film received financial support from the Polish Film Institute.

"This is not a documentary but a genre film, very exciting and fast-paced with great acting from Marcin Dorociński. Having said that, I do think that the picture has great international potential. It was shot in Polish, Russian and English and touches on a subject that was crucial to all of the countries. That fact that it is a spy thriller can only draw in more viewers," actress Maja Ostaszewska told FNE at the official premiere of the picture.
