KRAKOW: Bollywood producer Ritesh Sidhwani is currently scouting locations in Krakow for a 40 day shoot of a major film. Poland's Alvernia Studios will co-ordinate the project.

Bangistan directed by Karan Anshuman will be a major Bollywood action comedy about the faith of two modern warriors. The producers plan to shoot several challenging special effects scenes including elaborate stunts and pyrotechnics. The cast includes Ritesha Deshmukh and Pukita Samrat. The crew from India is currently scouting locations with Alvernia Studios for the shoot planned for June and August.

"We are very happy that we could fuse the Hindu and Polish way of filmmaking. An international film crew, the plot set in Krakow and an all-star cast of Polish actors that will accompany the Bollywood stars on the screen make-up a very interesting and entertaining multi-cultural fusion" said Marek Gabryjelski, the vice president of Alvernia Studios.

In recent years Krakow has become a sought after location for Bollywood filmmakers. Prominent Hindi productions shot partly in the Małopolska region with the assistance of Krakow Film Commission include Azaan (2010) directed by Prashanta Chadha,  Saguni (2011) directed by Shankar and The Rhythm (2012) directed by Vivek Kumar. Krakow is also a frequent location for advertisements made for the Hindi market.

"For years, the City of Krakow has been strengthening its image as an excellent film location that draws in accomplished film makers not only from Poland but all over the world. Once again, it is our great pleasure to host a Hindu production crew and provide them with all the needed logistic and promotion assistance" Katarzyna Wodecka-Stubbs, Head of Krakow Film Commission, said in an official statement.
