Fourth Belarusian Film Festival Held in Warsaw

    WARSAW: The fourth edition of Bulbamovie, Belarusian Film Festival in Warsaw, running 24-26 October 2014 in the Muranow Cinema handed out prizes in its competition for best short films, with three main prizes and three special prizes, which were funded by the Polish Film Institute, TV channel Belsat and sound studio Soundmixer.

    The festival opened with the premiere of the feature film Russian directed by Victar Asluk and the project Young about Young consisted of several short films united by the Ukrainian theme. Twenty films were screened in the two day competition, all directed by Belarusian filmmakers. During the festival there were three premieres: Odolen-trava directed by Andrey Mychko, Vanya and Totoshka by Ivan Maslukov and Hard Reboot by Andrey Kudzinenka.

    The film Watchman by Victar Krasouski won the main prize, the Golden Bulba. The second place went to Daria Yurkevich for the French-Belarusian coproduction Baba, Vanya and the Goat. The film also received a special audience award funded by the Polish Film Institute. Reconstruction of Insomnia directed by Nela Vasileuskaya won the third priez, the  Bronze Bulba. Belsat TV awarded Lubou Zemcova’s documentary About Love: Ira. The animated film What on the Meadow? by Maria Tulzhankova and Alexander Padkapayev received the special prize of the jury, which consisted of Polish and Belarusian producers, directors and film critics.
