Poland Selects 11 Minutes as Oscar Bid

    WARSAW: Acclaimed Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski's Polish-Irish coproduction 11 Minutes has been selected as the Polish candidate for the 88th Academy Awards.

    11 Minutes showcases the lives of several inhabitants of a modern city, during the same period of time. As they live out their own struggles, their faith will be revealed when the last second of 11 minutes will pass.

    Jerzy Skolimowski wrote the script. The cast includes Richard Dormer, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Paulina Chapko, Andrzej Chyra, Dawid Ogrodnik, Agata Buzek and Piotr Głowacki.

    The film is produced by Ewa Piaskowska and Jerzy Skolimowski through Skopia Film in coproduction with Element Pictures,HBO Poland, Orange, Telewizja Polska – AgencjaProdukcji Telewizyjnej i Filmowej (TVP) and Tumult Foundation.The film received funding from Polish Film Institute, Eurimages, Bord Scannan na hEireann [The Irish Film Board], Miasto Bydgoszcz and Eileen Tasca. The budget was 2m EUR / 8.7m PLN.

     11 Minutes will be distributed in the Polish cinemas by Kino Świat  starting 23 October 2015. Han Way Films is handling the sales. The film had its world premiere in Venice and was also selected for competition at Gdynia Film Festival
