WARSAW: After winning a spot in the MUX-8 transmitter for best lifestyle channel project, Agora plans to invest 30 m PLN (7 m EUR) in the new channel Kiwi TV.

Kiwi TV will be a lifestyle channel promoting recreational and sport activities. The channel will be managed by Green Content, a sub company of Agora.

Green Content received a license for broadcasting the lifestyle channel via MUX-8, the eighth digital ground transmitter that will be active in 2016. The National Broadcasting Council held a special competition for four new channels that will have a spot on the transmitter. Apart from Agora's Kiwi TV, the Chamber gave a broadcasting licenses to Zoom TV, a local government channel managed by Cable Television Networks & Partners, WP1, an interactive media oriented channel from Grupa Wirtualna Polska and TV#, a film-entertainment channel managed by TV Spectrum.

The first stage of the investment is for Agora to finance Green Content with 10 m PLN with a plan to increase the investment up to 30 m PLN. The company plans that the cost of launching Kiwi TV will be similar to the costs of film-themed Stopklatka TV. The launch of the new channel will be managed by Agnieszka Sadowska, a channel development specialist from Agora and a Stopklatka TV Board Member.

"We need to achieve 1% of the market share for the channel to reach the threshold of making profits. The first stage of Kiwi TV development will be getting the popularity among viewers and achieving the highest possible ratings, said Bartosz Hojka, the President of Agora.
