GDYNIA: I'm a Killer by acclaimed writer/director Maciej Pieprzyca will have its premiere in the main competition of the 41st Gdynia Film Festival set to take place from 19 to 24 September 2016. The film is a dark thriller set in the 70’s.
I'm a Killer / Jestem mordercą is a psychological thriller inspired by actual events from the early 70’s. After an unsuccessful investigation, a young militia officer becomes the leader of an investigation group which aims to capture a serial killer of women.
"This is not another film about a serial killer. The hero is an ordinary man facing a situation that is too much for him. He struggles with his weaknesses and ambitions as well as the socio-political system, and he comes very close to crossing the line and becoming the antihero", the director said.
The producers are Renata Czarnkowska-Listoś and Maria Gołoś. The film was produced by RE Studio in coproduction with the National Audiovisual Institute, Telewizja Polska, Agora S.A. and Monternia.pl, with budget of 1.6 m EUR / 6.8 m PLN. The project received a production grant of 697,377 EUR/ 3 m PLN from the Polish Film Institute and it is also supported by Silesia Film.
Next Film will release the film domestically on 4 November 2016.
Previously, Maciej Pieprzyca directed the box office hit Life Feels Good (2013, Tramway).
