GDYNIA: Bartosz Kruhlik’s debut feature will screen in the main competition of the 44th Gdynia Film Festival, running from 16 to 21 September 2019. The film will open in Polish cinemas on 22 November 2019, distributed by Forum Film Poland.
Supernova centres on three men, one place and a single event, that will change the life of each of them. Told in a realist style, it is a universal story about a few hours from the life of a village community. It offers an observation of the condition of a person in a critical situation and asks a question about the fundamental nature of coincidence and destiny. It is a vibrant story oscillating between drama, thriller and a disaster.
“The starting point is an accident on the road, that generates further adventures of the protagonists, quite surprising and quite tragic. Of course, I added threads in my history and it is not just about this moment, but about the events that develop from it. I do not spare my heroes, I like how the character hits a wall and must transform to go further in life”, director Bartosz Kruhlik told FNE.
The film was shot in 2019. It was produced by Munk Studio in coproduction with Canal+ Polska, with the support of the Polish Film Institute. International sales are managed by IKH Pictures Promotion.
