Crime Detectives Sold to Russia

    WARSAW:Endemol Neovision has acquired the rights to produce a Russian version of Crime Detectives, a Polish crime drama aired by Polish commercial channel TVN.

    Endemol Neovision (www.edndemol.com) bought the format for its daughter company Weit Media (www.weitmedia.com). Crime Detectives is a Polish television series directed by Ryszard Zatorski and Piotr Wereśniak, produced by MTL Maxfilm (www.mtlmaxfilm.pl). The series follows a police team led by a mature officer accompanied by a pair of young detectives. The leading roles were played by Marek Włodarczyk, Maciej Zakościelny and Magda Schejbal, all of whom gained great popularity with this show.

    Polish private broadcaster TVN (www.tvn.pl) successfully aired the show between September 2004 and May 2008. MTL Maxfilm produced eight series of 13 episodes each. The show attracted 2.5 to 4 million viewers. It received awards for the Best Crime Series at TeleCameras (www.telekamery.pl), the most important television industry awards in Poland, consecutively in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009 the show won the highest award, the Golden TeleCamera.

    The Russian version of Crime Detectives is planned to premiere in autumn 2011. This format is not the first sold from Poland to the East. A Russian adaptation of the Polish hit L For Love was successfuly aired by Rossija (RTR), and more recently the Polish company ATM Grupa (www.atmgrupa.pl) sold the rights to one of the most popular Polish series of all time, The Ranch, to be adapted for Russia and neighboring countries.
