TVP1 Picks up Polish Millionaires Series

By Katarzyna Grynienko

The Polish public broadcaster TV Polska has commissioned the first season of a local series Residency that is being touted as the Polish Dynasty.

Shooting is to begin at end of June. Residency is a daily soap about the life of the rich and the beautiful, which was developed under the working title Golden Cage. The show will follow the life of a wealthy and powerful family. Their business empire, ruled by the father and head of the family, is suddenly disrupted by the appearance of a young woman, who turns out to be his daughter -- however, neither of them is aware of the relationship.

The executive producer of the project is Akson Studio (www.akson-studio.pl), one of the most active Polish film and television production companies responsible for TV hits such as Magda M. (TVN), Time Of Honor (TVP2), Hotel 52 (Polsat) and The Officer (TVP).

The full cast and crew have not yet been announced, but the producer has confirmed that the female star of the show will be Anna Cieślak, a young actress best known for her performance in Maiden Vows directed by Filip Bajon and produced by Studio Filmowe Kalejdoskop (www.kalejdoskop.art.pl).

Residency will premiere on TVP1 in fall 2011. The station has commissioned 100 episodes of the show, which will be aired three times a week in the afternoon-evening line up.
