Romanian and Croatian Formats Sold to Latin America

    BUCHAREST: MediaPro Distribution has sold the formats of the Romanian and Croatian telenovelas Numai iubirea/Only Love and Larin izbor/Lara's Choice to Mexican Televisa, the biggest media company in Latin America.

    Numai iubirea/Only Love (two seasons, 100 episodes) was the first Romanian telenovela produced by Media Pro Pictures (www.mediapropictures.com/) for Acasa TV (www.acasatv.ro), in 2004 and 2005.

    Larin izbor/Lara's Choice had two seasons and 347 episodes on Croatia’s Nova TV (www.novatv.hr), since it began airing in 2011. Lara's Choice, the most popular Croatian TV show, is produced by Media Pro Audiovizual.

    "This is an important step for us and we are happy that our original stories will be adapted for a such a prestigious and experienced market," said Claudia Stavrositu, Head of International Sales MediaPro Distribution, the exclusive international sales agent for programmes produced by Central European Media Enterprises (www.cetv-net.com/en/index.shtml).

    Romanian telenovelas moved onto the international market in 2006 and have been sold all over the world.

    Lara's Choice has been sold in  40 countries and began broadcasts in Greece by Antenna (antenna.gr) on 8 July 2013. "If the competition between the Romanian and the Latin-American telenovelas was pretty tough seven years ago, with differences in quantity and also quantity, given their years of experience, we can see now a balanced competition between comparable products made for the same market," Anca Truţă, General Manager at MediaPro Distribution FNE.
