FESTIVALS: Cottbus Breaks New Grounds with LBGT CEE Films The Priest's Children (produced by Interfilm)

KARLOVY VARY: The 24th Cottbus IFF running 4-9 November 2014 continues its string of boundary breaking themed content with a Gay Film/LGBT focus on CEE films.

Festival director Bernd Buder, doing double duty as the Connecting Cottbus director as well, was in Karlovy Vary to scout for films before the 1 August film submission deadline.

Buder also introduced Torsten Frehse of Neue Visionen, winner of the Cottbus ins Kino award for promotion of a film that was screened at the festival. Thorsten told FNE that receiving the 10,000 EUR award, funded by the Medienboard, was the deciding factor in picking up The Priest's Children (produced by Interfilm) from French sales agent WIDE. It was the third time Neue Visionen had received the Kino ins Cottbus prize.

"We hope to have between 50,000 - 100,000 admissions which would make it the most successful Croatian film in Germany.” Frehse said. The comedy will enter German cinemas on 7 August 2014.
