Estonia, Poland selected for Sundance competition

The Temptation of St. Tony from Estonia and All That I Love from Poland have been announced for the World Cinema Narrative competition at the Sundance Film Festival, January 21-31.

Veiko Õunpuu's second feature, The Temptation of St. Tony, is the first Estonian film to screen at Sundance.

The film is the story of an introverted middle-level manager who is forced to tackle a steadily growing host of emotional problems, and the question of what it means to be a good person.

Veiko Õunpuu's received the MEDIA Programme's European Talent Award at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival for the film's script.

The film was produced by Katrin Kissa and Homeless Bob Productions. It was co-produced by Kristina Aberg (Atmo/Sweden); Tero Kaukomaa, Jesse Fryckman (Bronson Club/Finland).

All that I Love from director and screenwriter Jacek Borcuch will have its North American premiere at Sundance. The film is set in 1981, during the growing Polish Solidarity movement, and tells the story of four small-town teenagers form a punk rock band with the hope of playing at a local festival. The cast includes Mateusz Kościukiewicz, Jakub Gierszał, Mateusz Banasiuk, Olga Frycz, Igor Obłoza.

The movie was produced by Prasa i Film in co-operation with Telewizja Polska (www.tvp.pl), Canal+ (www.canalplus.pl) and financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).
