At My Father’s Home is a realistic drama about a young man who goes back to his home village where everybody thinks he is somebody important.
Actor and writer Mimi Brănescu (Tuesday, After Christmas) wrote the script. Andrei Butică (Everybody in Our Family) is the DOP, and Mihai Dorobanţu is the art director. Andrei Iancu will edit. The cast includes Alexandru Papadopol, Andi Vasluianu, Florin Zamfirescu, Sorin Cociş, Mirela Oprişor, Ioana Flora, and Nataşa Raab. Andrei Iancu will edit.
The total budget is 555,000 EUR (2.5m RON). The film received a production grant of 167,000 EUR (0.76m RON) from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in 2010; 7,700 EUR (35,000 RON) from HBO Romania (www.hbo.ro), 162,000 EUR (737,000 RON) from local media agencies; and some 219,000 EUR (1,000 RON) is the producer’s contribution. Doman told FNE that he is looking for coproducers.
Acasă la tata / At My Father’s Home will be shot entirely on location in the village of 2 Mai, by the Black Sea. Shooting will wrap 5 November. The premiere is not yet set.
Cohn's short fiction film, Before and After 12/22/1989 (Înainte şi după 22/12/1989) was shortlisted at the Gopo Gala (www.premiilegopo.ro) in 2010. The director studied painting and built a career in advertising.
