BUCHAREST: Laura Capatana-Juller’s debut film, an 80 minute observational documentary about two young sisters waiting for their parents to return from Spain where they have worked for 11 years, screens in Romanian Days at TIFF 6-8 June 2013.

"I wanted to find the most normal case possible among the 350,000 cases of Romanian children growing up without their parents while their parents are working abroad," the director said at One World Romania film festival.

She spent one year looking for the characters. She started shooting in the Northern Romania in February 2009 and returned there some 10 times. The budget is 70,000 Euro. The film wass produced by Alexandru Solomon and HiFilm Production. Ilinca Belciu is executive producer, Ancuţa Iordăchescu the DOP and Dana Bunescu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu) the editor.

"We believed in the project from the very beginning but we couldn't find any grants except a small development grant from the National Centre for Cinema," Solomon told FNE. The project was pitched at ExOriente 2009, IDFAcademy Summer School, EURODOC session held in Timişoara, Romania, a Robert Bosch Stiftung contest, Talent Campus Pack & Pitch Sarajevo and at Documentary in Europe in Italy.

It was nominated at Best Documentary in 2012 at Gopo Gala.
