Greece gets a special attention this year since it has the presidency of the European Union. More than 40 European films (features, documentaries, animated and short films) will be screened at cinemas Studio and Elvire Popesco in Bucharest from 9 to 15 May, and at cinema Arta in Târgu-Mureş from 16 to 18 May. The entrance is free of charge. Each year a Romanian filmmaker is the honorary ambassador of the festival. This includes the "obligation" to direct the teaser of the festival. This year the ambassador is Adrian Sitaru.

The Romanian selection includes the documentaries Where Are You Bucharest?/Bucureşti, unde eşti? by Vlad Petri (http://www.bucurestithemovie.ro/, produced by Vlad Petri), Songs for a Museum/Cântece pentru un muzeu by Eliza Zdru, Igor Cobileanski's feature The Unsaved/La limita de jos a cerului (produced by Saga Film) and also short films by Adrian Sitaru and by students from the National University of Theatre and Film I.L.Caragiale. There is no competition, but the audience will vote for its favorite film on the website of the festival, and the winner will receive the Audience Award.

Other activities include an animation woskhop for children and a marathon with this year's selection of Anim'est IFF; a screening of Vali Hotea's debut feature Roxanne followed by a discussion with Hotea, producer Ada Solomon and friends about the year 1983 as the source of their film; and a guitar recital with Yorgos Nousis (Greece). The closing film of the festival is Soldier Jane/Soldate Jeannette by Daniel Hoesl.

The European Film Festival is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the European Commission Representation in Romania, under the patronage of EUNIC and with the support of the embassies and cultural centres of the European Union countries.
