BUCHAREST: Transilvania Film Fund, the first regional film fund in Romania, will support feature films, short films, documentaries and initiatives related to professional development. Financial incentives will be granted by the local authorities for producers shooting in Cluj, while a medium-sized film studio will also be built in Cluj with the project Regional Centre for Creative Industries.

The incentives will be given through funding sessions for producers shooting in Cluj with local facilities and crew. The Transilvania Film Fund (TFF) aims to attract foreign and Romanian producers and to develop local resources and professionals in order to transform Cluj into a major production centre in Eastern Europe. Established as a public-private partnership, the fund is included in the future development strategy of the city. The rules will be announced in April 2015 when the fund will be officially launched. The initial budget of the fund is 110,000 EUR.

Transilvania Film Fund is implemented by Cristian Hordilă, Festival Manager of Transilvania IFF and Member in the Board of Directors of European Film Promotion, in parnership with Cluj-Napoca City Hall, the Faculty of Theatre and Television of the Babes-Bolyai University, the Faculty of Sciences and Arts of the Sapientia University, and the visual FX studio DSG.

In 2014, Transilvania Film Fund was one of the eight projects selected for the second edition of SOFA - School of Film Agents. TFF also plans to join Cine-Regio as a full member. The 14th edition of Transilvania International Film Festival will take place in Cluj-Napoca from 29 May to 7 June 2015.
