Corneliu Porumboiu's The Treasure Begins International Sales Prior to Cannes Premiere

    BUCHAREST: Corneliu Porumboiu's fourth feature The Treasure/Comoara, which will have its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes (13-24 May 2015), has been sold in Croatia, Hungary, Israel, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey.

    The film will be distributed by MFC Megacom in Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia, by Cirko Film in Hungary, by United King in Israel, by Leopardo Filmes in Portugal and by Filmarti in Turkey. Wild Bunch is handling international sales.

    The film is Porumboiu’s return to the genre of comedy as displayed in his debut feature, 12:08 East of Bucharest/A fost sau n-a fost? (42 Km Film). The Treasure follows two neighbours in search of a treasure buried in the backyard of one of them. The film is a Romanian/French coproduction from 42 Km Film, Les Films Du Worso and Rouge International. The film stars Cuzin Toma, Adrian Purcarescu and Corneliu Cozmei.

    The Treasure will be released in Romania by 42 Km Film on 29 May 2015.
